Directorate of Minorities Scholarship Schemes

 

Pre-Matric Scholarship

Eligibility Conditions

  1. Students those who have applied under NSP Government of India only are eligible to apply under SSP Government of Karnataka.
  2. Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination (Not applicable for students studying in 1st std)
  3. Annual income of the students’ Parents/ Guardians from all sources should not exceed Rs.1.0 Lakh.

 

Post Matric Scholarship

Eligibility Conditions

  1. Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% of marks or equivalent grade in previous year/last exam with pass certificate.
  2. Annual income of the students’ Parents/ Guardians from all sources should not exceed
  • 2 Lakh for Post Matric Scholarship.
  • 2.5 Lakh for Merit Cum Means / Top Class Scholarship.
  1. Students pursuing correspondence education and certificate courses, or trainings are not eligible.
  2. Students of Karnataka domicile studying in other states are also eligible to apply in Karnataka.
  3. Students of other states studying in Karnataka are not eligible to apply from Karnataka.

 

Scheme Of ‘Merit Cum Means Based Scholarship’ For Students Belonging To The Minority Communities

Scope

The scholarship is to be awarded for studies in India in a Government or private institution, selected and notified in a transparent manner by the State Government/Union Territory Administration concerned. It will cover technical and professional courses at undergraduate and post graduate level.

Eligibility

Scholarship will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination and the annual income of whose parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.50 lakh.

Distribution

Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. A total of 60,000 scholarships are targeted to be distributed as ‘Fresh’ Scholarships, besides, Renewal scholarships. The distribution of scholarship among the States/Union Territories will be made on the basis of population of minorities in the States/Union Territories as per Census 2001 for 2017-18 and as per the population of minorities in the States/Union Territories of Census 2011 for 2018-19 and 2019-20.

National Overseas Scholarship for Minorities

The State Government through the Directorate of Minorities have introduced a scheme for providing financial assistance to Minority students of Karnataka State for pursuing higher studies aboard in Master Degree, Ph.D and Post-Doctoral Courses etc., in prestigious Foreign Universities. Minority students who opt to pursue higher studies Abroad in prestigious foreign Universities after their degree course are provided with National Overseas Scholarship by Government of Karnataka at the rate of Rs. 20.00 lakhs for 2 years course only.

Who can Apply?

Students of Karnataka State Domicile can apply in the prescribed application downloading the same from the official website of Directorate of Minorities.

Fee Reimbursement (MUSLIMS, CHRISTIANS, SIKHS, BUDDHISTS, PARSIS & JAINS)

The main objective of the Scheme is to arrest the tendency of drop out due to economic incapability and in order to create the possibilities of employment opportunities amongst the Meritorious minorities students to continue the Pre-University, Professional and Technical Courses in Degree at Post-Graduation level, M.Phil. and PHD.

 

Vidyasiri (Food & Accommodation Scheme)

Vidyasiri Scheme for Minority students studying in Post-Matric Courses/PUC upto Ph.D.level in Government/Aided/Un-Aided institutions across the State who are not provided with Hostels facilities.

  1. Students should be a domicile of Karnataka State.
  2. Students annual family income should be less than Rs.2.00 lakh.
  3. Category 1 and converted Christian Minority students family income should be less than Rs.2.50 lakh.
  4. Students should be from rural areas and distance between college and their residence should be more than 5km.
  5. The students should have passed their previous year’s examination without any backlog.
  6. Students residing in BBMP, Town Municipal and Corporation limits are not eligible under this scheme.
  7. Students staying in Hostels/Paying Guests (PG) Houses or any other accommodation are also eligible for this benefit.
  8. Selected students will get an amount of Rs.1.500 per month for period of 10 months (max Rs.15,000) during their study period.

 

M.Phil & Ph.D Fellowship

As per the Government of Karnataka Order no: MWD 462 MDS 2016 Date: 24.01.2017 and amended Government of Karnataka order No: MWD 157 MDS 2017, Date: 09.05.2017. The ‘’Directorate of Minorities Fellowship for Minority Students’’ is formulated and funded by Government of Karnataka, in line with Junior Research Fellowship Programme.

The scheme is open to candidates who belong to Minority Community i.e. Muslim, Sikh, Parsi, Buddhist, Christian & Jain and are pursuing higher studies such as regular, full time M.Phil/Ph.D degree in Government recognised Universities/Institutions/Colleges, in minority related subjects on priority basis first and other subjects will also be considered.

The target group is the candidates who have passed the post graduation examination in concerned subject and who are pursuing full time regular research without JRF of UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET or Maulana Azad National Fellowship for Minority Students or any other Fellowships awarded by Government. A candidate has to fulfil the following conditions to be eligible for award of this fellowship:-

(i) Candidate should be domicile of State of Karnataka

(ii) Age of candidate should be less than 35 years

(iii) Candidate should not be a Government Employee or full time employee in private organisation.

(iv) Candidate should submit the minority community certificate issued by Tahasildar

(v) The annual income of the beneficiary/parents or guardian of the beneficiary should not exceed Rs. 6 lakh per annum from all sources. Candidate should submit his/her income or his/her parent’s/guardian’s income certificate issued by the Tahasildar
