NCC Celebrates 70th Anniversary

  • National Cadet Corps (NCC), the largest uniformed youth organisation in the world, celebrates its 70th Raising Day on November 25.
  • NCC in India was formed under the National Cadet Corps Act of 1948.
  • NCC is an Indian military cadet corps with its Headquarters situated at New Delhi.
  • It  is open to school and college students on voluntary basis.
  • The motto of NCC is “ UNITY AND DISCIPLINE”.
  • It is a Tri-Services Organization, comprising the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth of the country into disciplined and patriotic citizens.
  • The raising day is also being celebrated all over India with cadets participating in marches, cultural activities and social development programmes.

Dera Baba Nanak – Kartapur Sahib corridor

Vice President of India has laid the foundation stone for construction of Dera Baba Nanak – Kartapur Sahib corridor on the Indian side that will provide a passage to Sikh pilgrims to visit the holy site of Gurudwara Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur in Pakistan.

The event also marked the commemoration of 550th birth anniversary year of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

About corridor

  • Guru Nanak was the founder of Sikhism and the first of the ten Sikh Gurus.
  • His birth anniversary is celebrated worldwide as Guru Nanak Gurpurab on Kartik Pooranmashi, the full-moon day in the month of Katak, October–November.
  • Guru Nanak Dev ji had assembled the Sikh community at Kartarpur and lived there for 18 years till 1539. The Gurudwara Darbar Sahib is built where Guru Nanak Dev Ji took his last breath.
  • To mark Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s 550th birth anniversary in 2019, the Government of India decided to build the Kartarpur road Corridor upto the international border between India and Pakistan as an integrated development project.
  • The Corridor will let Sikh pilgrims visit the iconic Gurudwara Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur  on the banks of river Ravi in Pakistan.
  • The Indian side of Corridor starts from Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur district and extends upto International border between India and Pakistan.
  • The project corridor is to be developed by National Highways Authority of India and will be funded by Government of India.
  • The project corridor is 4 lane with service road and all other appropriate amenities for pilgrims intending to visit Gurudwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur in Pakistan.
  • This corridor will be a historical landmark between India and Pakistan and will also boost tourism as more pilgrims would visit the holy shrine throughout the year between two countries.

Information Platform to monitor public health surveillance

  • Health Ministry launches Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) segment of Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) in seven states.
  • IHIP is the first one-of-its-kind initiative by the Government of India and uses the latest technologies and digital health initiatives.
  • The path-breaking initiative will provide near-real-time data to policy makers for detecting outbreaks, reducing the morbidity and mortality and lessening disease burden in the populations and better health systems.

PAiSA

  • It is centralized electronic platform for processing interest subvention on bank loans to beneficiaries under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM)
  • The PAiSA stands for Portal for Affordable Credit & Interest Subvention Access.
  • The web platform has been designed and developed by Allahabad Bank which is the Nodal bank.
  • All 35 states / UTs & all scheduled commercial banks, RRBs and Cooperative Banks are expected to be on board the PAiSA portal the year end.

HAUSLA-2018

  • HAUSLA-2018 is National Festival for Children of Child Care Institutions (CCIs) of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD).
  • The inter-Child Care Institution festival is witnessing participation of more than 600 Children drawn from CCIs from 18 states in the various events like painting competition, athletics meet, football, chess competition and speech writing as part of the Festival.
  • The theme for the event is “Child Safety”.
